YOUNG ICT WOMEN project kicks off aiming to provide innovative solutions to increase the number of girls and young women in the digital economy in seven European countries

The “YOUNG ICT WOMEN – Innovative Solutions to increase the numbers of EU vulnerable girls and young women into the digital agenda” (Project Nr. 2017-1-094) has started its activities with a kick-off meeting organized by the project Lead Partner, the Latvian Information and Communication Technology Association – LIKTA the 10-11th September in Riga.

The objective of the YOUNG ICT WOMEN project is to develop the digital competencies and thereby the employability of young women at risk of exclusion from the labor market.

The project brings together 10 insightful and experienced partners from 9 European countries: AMETIC – The Spanish ICT Association – Spain, Baltic Education Technology Institute – BETI, Lithuania, Creative Thinking Development – CRETHIDEV – Greece, DIGITALEUROPE aisbl, Belgium, ECDL Ireland Ltd. – Ireland, Educating for an Open Society – EOS, Romania, European Centre for Women and Technology – ECWT, Norway, FUNDACIÓN PLAN INTERNATIONAL, Spain, LIKTA, Latvia and Malta Communications Authority – Malta.

The initiative will pursue its goals through awareness-raising campaigns, skills assessment, innovative partnerships with employers, development of a new online employability profiling tool, training and employment guidance into Digital Jobs.

The YOUNG ICT WOMEN project benefits from a 2.714.304 € grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA and Norway Grants Fund for Youth Employment and will run between September 2018 and August 2021.
