Today, the issue of technology security is very topical in the world, requiring a standards-based approach. Latvian Information and communications technology association (LIKTA) invites you to a seminar where you can get acquainted with the Network Equipment Security Assurance Scheme (NESAS), jointly defined by 3GPP and GSMA, for mobile communications industry. The seminar will take place on the 28th of September, at 10:00 – 11:30, online.
The seminar lecturer will be James Moran, GSMA’s Head of Security – one of Europe’s leading experts in the field.
The seminar will provide an introduction to Network Equipment Security Assurance Scheme (NESAS) that will cover the following:
- Supply chain security
- Need for security assurance
- Overview of GSMA and 3GPP defined NESAS programme
- Progress made to date on vendor auditing and product evaluations
- NESAS benefits
- Ensuring successful outcomes

What is NESAS?
NESAS – Network Equipment Security Assurance Scheme – is a voluntary initiative of the mobile industry to launch an ongoing security improvement program that is focussed on mobile network infrastructure equipment. In its first incarnation, NESAS covers equipment designed to support functions defined by 3GPP that is deployed by mobile network operators on their networks. NESAS consists of two major elements:
(1) security assessments of vendor development and product lifecycle processes and
(2) security evaluations of network products.
The combination of both these activities defines and introduces a baseline security level that should be reached by the mobile industry. NESAS does not cover shipment and deployment of network equipment nor the configuration and operation of network equipment within mobile networks.
